MP Investigates River Garry Water Issue

On Friday 22 June MP Pete Wishart, met with representatives of various organisations at the House of Bruar, in order to discuss the future development of the River Garry and the effects of hydroelectric power generation on the local water system.
Following the meetingthe MP said "I was very pleased to meet with representatives from the campaign to save the River Garry and was impressed with the quality of their case.
The Garry has been allowed to fall into appalling disrepair and urgent action is required in order to put the river back to its former glory.

"After five decades of hydroelectricity extraction from this source the price must not be allowed to be the disappearance of the River Garry the from map of Perthshire. I will arrange to make contact with Scottish and strongest possible representations to the company on behalf of my many concerned constituents on this matter.

"This is an issue that has united anglers, local people and environmental organisations concerned with the degradation of this river and I hope that their concerns are taken seriously."

Subsequently MSP Murdo Fraser met with campaigners to witness first hand the river's devastation. After visiting he pledged his full support for the campaign to restore the river for the benefit of the local and wider community.
