Riverside Path to Link Aberfeldy & Kenmore
The Upper Tay Paths Group has secured a £127,100 grant from the Scottish Executive’s Environmental Fund to construct a multi-way path with signage along the side of the Tay. This will link Aberfeldy and Kenmore and provide a safer, alternative route to using the busy A827 for foot and cycle traffic.
The project is one of ten across Scotland which will have a share in £2m to ‘improve and regenerate local areas and boost the quality of local life.’
The award was announced by Environment Minister Michael Russell on 29 August who explained the aim of the fund as being ‘to help communities across Scotland who have previously suffered negative environmental impacts from industry, pollution or other damaging activities, to boost their quality of life through restoring habitats.’ |

Important Asset
Delight at gaining the award has been expressed by the Upper Tay Paths Group. “This grant has not been easily won, nor lightly given, and we are extremely fortunate to have been selected in the face of strong competition,” said chairman Elizabeth Lines.
She added: “Should the project of a Riverside Path between Kenmore and Aberfeldy be able to go ahead it will provide the communities along its route with a very important - and frequently asked for - asset.”
She explained that the Group’s project officer is currently still engaged in negotiations for access permissions along the proposed riverside route.
