The Convenient Lie

Al Gore’s documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ links C02 levels to both global warming and cooling by examining ice samples laid down thousands of years ago. Shame he didn’t check his facts more thoroughly before launching his propaganda on the world. If he had done his research more thoroughly then he would have found that, in the past, when our planet either cooled or warmed,the real inconvenient truth is C02 levels altered after and not before temperature fluctuations occurred. So, in reality, the variation in C02 levels is a result of natural global temperature variations and is not the cause. But as C02 doesn’t cause global warming, then what does?

Well buried in the archives of commentonline (Wildlife and Environment section) is an article entitled ‘It’s the Sun Stupid’ and, yes, the thrust of the Great Global Warming Swindle showed that eminent professors the world over have now conclusively linked solar activity to global warming. It amused me to see a cheque from William Hill made payable to a climatologist, Dr Piers Corbyn, who had won his bet on a long range weather forecast he made based on solar activity.

Where, then, does this leave the IPCC, the Stern Report, the BBC and Blair Brown and Cameron, too? They have all nailed their colours to the mast and have created a global warming industry. They’ve stated their case, set the hares and the jackals running, and would lose too much face if they were to admit to the falsehood that global warming is a result of increased levels of man-made C02. But it’s those who they have been encouraging to embrace the new age religion who are of more concern. Their zealotry would have us revert to the stone age and they would use any methods to defeat the Great Satans whom - they believe - are the oil and coal producers.
