Loch Tay Fact/Views Finder Survey

A SURVEY to gain the views of those living and working around Loch Tay was launched at the Annual General Meeting of the Loch Tay Association (LTA), held at Croft na Caber at the end of February.
Chairman, David Dowling, told members that, over the years, the Association had been aware of an increasing activity in the area, both on the Loch and beside it. He felt it incumbent upon LTA to take soundings of the local population to get an accurate measure of local feelings towards this, and felt that the resulting survey would be a useful tool, not only for the Association itself, but for other organisations and the local council.
The survey has been mailed out to riparian owners, people living around the Loch and to Lochside businesses.
During the formal business of the AGM it was agreed to raise subscriptions to the Association, which had remained the same for many years. In addition, Bill Oppenheim of Acharn and Stuart Brain of Fearnan were voted on to the Management Committee. The meeting also heard of the problems currently besetting the Loch Tay steamship and it expressed hopes that these would soon be resolved

A very informative presentation was made by Bob Elliot, Senior Operations Manager with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, following the meeting.
He paid particular attention to highlighting the problems which can arise between different users of Loch Lomond, which now has 6000 registered motor boats, and how the Park was overcoming these difficulties. Mr Elliot then fielded many questions from the floor as the meeting drew on similarities between the two areas.
